On October 25, 2023, the Inaugural Ceremony of the Indonesian Master’s Program in Metallurgical Engineering of the First Tripartite Partnership between “Huayou Cobalt – Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia – Northeastern University” was held at Northeastern University. The ceremony was attended by M. Firdausi Manti, Director of Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Chen Xuehua, President Director of Huayou Cobalt, as well as leaders from the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education Agency, and the Faculty of International Education and the Faculty of Metallurgy of Northeastern University.

The Tripartite Talent Development Partnership Program, as a continuation of the Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in November 2022 and the Implementation Agreement (IA) signed in April 2023, conducted the recruitment and selection of more than 300 exceptional Indonesian students covering more than 100 Indonesian universities from May to September. The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education Agency, Northeastern University, and Huayou Cobalt jointly interviewed and selected 26 Indonesian undergraduate (S1) students, who on October 23 enrolled at the Northeastern University and started the Indonesian Master’s Program in Metallurgical Engineering with a three-year learning period.
