Huayou Participates in Tree Planting for Carbon Emission Reduction with the Indonesian Ministry of Environment
On November 1, as a member of the Indonesian delegation to the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), Huayou representatives took part in a tree-planting carbon reduction activity organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment in West Java. Indonesian Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq stated that this initiative aims to offset carbon emissions generated by the conference through concrete actions, embodying the carbon neutrality concept of COP30 in advance. The conference is scheduled to take place in Belém, Brazil, in November 2025, with the goal of advancing global climate governance cooperation.
Government and Private Sector Synergy Launches 2025 Mangrove Planting Project in IPIP Area

The project aims to plant 2,000 mangrove seedlings by 2025, as a continuation of the ecological restoration efforts undertaken by KNI last year to support the recovery of coastal ecosystems.
IPIP Plants Mangroves on Earth Day to Practice Sustainable Development
On April 22nd, Earth Day, IPIP planted 200 mangrove trees at the KNI Port estuary mangrove conservation project base and will regularly monitor and protect these trees. According to estimates, a single mangrove tree can absorb about 0.3 tons of carbon during its life cycle. It is expected that this mangrove forest will absorb up to 60 tons of carbon in the next 25 years.
Connecting Through Caring: Huayou Indonesia Receives Special Award on International Day of Persons with Disabilities (ESG)
On December 7, in commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Huayou Indonesia received an award from the Indonesian Ministry of Defense. The company donated 5 billion Rupiah worth of medical and rehabilitation materials to 75 people with disabilities, including support for cleft lip and palate surgery, cataract surgery, and prosthetic limbs, to help improve their quality of life and restore their self-confidence. The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defense, Tri Budi Utomo, expressed his deep appreciation for Huayou's longstanding, sincere support for vulnerable groups. Huayou stated that it will remain committed to the principle of "investing locally, contributing locally" and growing alongside the local community.
Fighting Fire in the Dark Night: A Record of HFCC's Fire Rescue Operation in a Small Fishing Village
Local time, April 26 evening, a sudden residential fire broke out in a small fishing village near the IWIP industrial park, with fierce flames threatening the villagers' lives and property. The Safety, Health, and Environment Department's Fire Rescue Section of HFCC quickly responded, dispatching two vehicles and ten personnel to the scene. Working together with the IWIP emergency team, they successfully extinguished the fire within 40 minutes, ensuring no casualties and safeguarding surrounding facilities. The cause of the fire was identified as spilled fuel from a pickup truck igniting a pile of garbage. This operation once again demonstrated HFCC’s professional capabilities in emergency response. Since July 2021, HFCC has carried out a total of eight fire rescue missions, providing a solid safety barrier for surrounding communities."
Commitment to Sustainability | Huayue Awarded Blue PROPER Rating Certificate
Huayue Nickel & Cobalt (Indonesia) Co., Ltd. has been awarded the “Blue PROPER” rating for the 2023–2024 assessment period by Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment and Forestry. The certificate was personally presented by the Governor of Central Sulawesi, Anwar Hafid. PROPER is Indonesia’s national-level environmental performance evaluation system. A Blue rating signifies that a company is in full compliance with environmental regulations. Mr. Fayez Permadi, Deputy Director of Public Affairs, accepted the award on behalf of the company. He stated that this recognition will serve as a strong motivation for Huayue to continue improving its environmental performance and to fulfill its commitment to green and sustainable development.

On February 3, 2025, Huayou and Vale attended the handover ceremony for the second phase of the donation project aimed at post-earthquake recovery and reconstruction in Cianjur Regency, West Java, Indonesia. This project includes the construction of two mosques and clean water infrastructure, providing vital support to help the local community restore their daily lives in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan 1446 H.

Celebrate Earth Day, Huayou, along with with Ford and PT Vale Indonesia Planted Mangroves at Port Area PT Kolaka Nickel Indonesia
Pomalaa, April 22, 2024 – In commemorating World Earth Day, which falls on April 22nd each year, Huayou Indonesia collaborates with PT Vale Indonesia Tbk and Ford Motor Company in planting 200 mangrove saplings of the Rhizophora species in the area of PT Kolaka Nickel Indonesia Port, Pomalaa, Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi.
This mangrove planting program is part of Huayou Indonesia's corporate social responsibility (CSR) through a mangrove conservation program. This program demonstrates Huayou Indonesia's commitment and its business partners to implement environmentally friendly and sustainable collaborative projects around the Pomalaa project's operational area. During the implementation, the leadership and ESG (Environment, Social, and Government) teams from the three companies were present to collaborate on the mangrove planting.
Based on interview with ESG Director of Ford Motor Company, Rebecca Shelby, related to her hopes for the collaboration forged by the three global companies in the PT KNI project, she expressed that, "We hope to collaborate with Huayou Cobalt and PT Vale Indonesia in continuing the journey of building responsive resources for nickel projects. As we move forward, one thing we aim to do is actively engage the local community around Kolaka and ensure that we protect the people living in those communities and also the planet for them," said Rebecca Shelby.
Huayou Cobalt Donation for Earthquake Victims in Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia
On December 2022, Huayou Cobalt and Vale Indonesia decided to jointly donate US$ 340,000 to earthquake victims in Cianjur, West Java where Huayou Cobalt donated US$ 170,000 to support post-disaster reconstruction.
The donation ceremony was held at the Al-Jabbar Mosque, Bandung, West Java. Ridwan Kamil, Governor of West Java attended the ceremony for handing over the aid and witnessed by Budi Juanda, Chair of the Regional Disaster Management Committee. The two Indonesian government representatives expressed their deepest gratitude to the company. Going forward, Huayou will continue to strive to achieve the best ESG governance and make greater contributions to the Indonesian people.
