On September 13, 2022, Huayou Cobalt and Vale Indonesia signed a framework agreement on the High-Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL) project in Sorowako, Indonesia. The two companies will develop a smelter using HPAL technology at the Sorowako mine in East Luwu District, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. This cooperation marks Huayou's further commitment to build an integrated industrial chain with Vale Indonesia, after the joint HPAL project in Pomalaa.
